David Idowu is a Nigerian by descent, British-born at Lambeth, South London. He is a qualified Nigerian solicitor and barrister with over 33 years of post-call experience, holding an LL.B (Hons).
David has many years of experience in stakeholder and casework management across top strategic departments of the UK's Central Government — including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Department for Communities and Local Government, and the Government Office for London. In 2011, David stepped down from active service as a Casework Manager in the London Case Unit of the Department for Communities and Local Government at Victoria, London, to put all his energies into the charity sector — his first love.
David currently serves as the Senior Pastor of RCCG Life Start Connections, which he has pastored since November 2004 as the first Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish within the Gravesham region of Kent. Within the hierarchy of the UK RCCG, David also carries out the role of Area Pastor, overseeing five other local parishes within the Kent district.
In 2023/24 alone, the Gravesham Foodbank he founded fed 5,000 locals — a project built from scratch over 13 years ago to fight food poverty in his community.
David initiated the Gravesham Foodbank as a Christian social-responsibility project (NGO) under the umbrella of his local parish, serving as Project Manager and Coordinator under the franchise of the Trussell Trust. The foodbank has become part of the resilience landscape of the Gravesham region in combating food poverty within the community.
David is known as a family man, a lover of humanity, a devout Christian, and a strong believer in the true unity of faith in action for the general good of humanity as a whole. He is married to Mrs Remilekun Idowu of over 26 years, and is blessed with four children — two girls and two boys.
